Torino Target Napoli’s Ostigard in Potential Loan Deal

Start

Torino are showing strong interest in acquiring Napoli centre-back Leo Ostigard this summer. The Turin-based club are considering bolstering their defense with Ostigard, who was previously part of discussions in the Buongiorno transfer saga.

Napoli president De Laurentiis had initially decided to separate the Ostigard negotiations from the Buongiorno deal, which allowed them to secure the former Torino captain ahead of other interested clubs. Now, Torino has set their sights on Ostigard, whom Napoli values at approximately 7 million euros.

TMW report that the potential transfer could materialize as a loan with an obligation to buy. While Napoli would prefer an outright sale, fiscal considerations might lead to a different arrangement. In recent months, there were also rumors of Ostigard possibly returning to Genoa, the club that initially brought him to Italy. He was also briefly considered as part of the Dragusin transfer, which ultimately fell through due to substantial offers from Bayern Munich and Tottenham, with the latter securing the player.

Last season, Ostigard made 20 starts across all competitions, totalling 32 appearances. However, his performance was somewhat hampered by Napoli’s overall struggles, a stark contrast to the previous season’s Scudetto-winning campaign.

This potential move to Torino could provide Ostigard with a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially revitalize his career in Serie A.
