Inter are edging ever closer to a deal for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi after a positive meeting between the two clubs. The 23-year-old is the subject of strong interest from a host of Serie A sides, including Juventus and Roma, but the Nerazzurri seem to have edged ahead.
Speaking ahead of Italy’s Nations League match against Spain, Frattesi explained why he was keen to remain in Italy for the moment, despite interest from Premier League clubs:
“Bid from Premier League? I told Sassuolo that honestly I don’t feel that’s the best step for me now. I’m not ready to go abroad yet.”
“I’d rather stay in Serie A — my priority is to continue in Italy, Sassuolo are now also informed”.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Inter and Sassuolo met on Tuesday evening to discuss a potential transfer, and a deal is now very close.
According to Di Marzio, Frattesi has given his ‘ok’ to a move to the Nerazzurri, while Inter youngster Samuele Mulattieri, who played last season at Frosinone, could possibly be included in the negotiations.
The intention of Inter is to accelerate to get ahead of the competition-represented by Roma and Juventus-but they may need to sell first in order to complete the move.
