Juventus are working to renew the contract of centre-back Matthijs De Ligt following the departure of Giorgio Chiellini. The young Dutchman is seen as a long-term successor to the former Juve captain and the club are keen to extend his contract.
Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the club and De Ligt’s and entourage are continue to work on a potential renewal. The idea is to renew his contract until 2026, taking it two years beyond the existing deal which ends in 2024.
For his part, De Ligt is looking to lower the release in his deal to €100 million and while this is being worked on, Di Mario reports that there is a ‘willingness’ on all sides to reach an agreement.
The 22-year-old has spent three seasons in Turin making 116 appearances and scoring 8 goals.
