Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon revealed that he as accepted the role of delegation leader with the Azzurri. Buffon has retired from playing professional football at age 45, and is set to take over the role that Gianluca Vialli held with the Azzurri before his tragic passing.
Reports in Italy had suggested that Buffon would play some role in the Italy setup, and the veteran confirmed the news today via his social media accounts, saying:
“I return to the Nazionale because that kid that 30 years ago stepped through the gates of the Coverciano training ground for the first time still wants to dream and live this dream with the Italian fans.”
