Atalanta striker Gianluca Scamacca called their 1-0 win over Sturm Graz an ‘intense and difficult match’ and explained his reasons for joining La Dea this summer. The victory guaranteed qualification for the club to the next round of the Europa League, and Scamacca explained that his goal is always to help the team achieve their goals:
“It was an intense and difficult match. They were aggressive and closed the spaces well. The important thing was to pass the round and we did it. The desire to help the team is always in the first place, then if they get some big goals in Europa League even better.
“Why did I choose Atalanta? It was the first club that showed it wanted me badly. I spoke with the coach, the director and the president and they convinced me straight away.
“I have to improve many things, I work day after day. Last year was a bit like that, dictated also by the injury, I was also a bit unlucky. I think things happen when they have to happen, if I didn’t go to the national team earlier it probably meant I wasn’t ready enough. Spalletti tells me to keep moving, believe in myself and never give up.”
