Monza midfielder Andrea Colpani admitted that he was a Milanista as a child, despite being linked with Inter in the transfer window. The Nerazzurri have been closely linked with the Italian youngster, who has impressed since having a breakthrough season with Monza in 2021.
Speaking with Sportweek, the 24-year-old admitted that he cheered for the other half of Milan when he was a youngster, and revealed his first meeting with former chairman Silvio Berlusconi:
“Did I cheer for Milan ? As a child, yes. I will always thank President Berlusconi. When I talk about him, I get emotional. He’s always been nice to me. He said I was his favorite, maybe because I had a young face, but definitely for the technique.
“He greeted everyone with a hello and a handshake. Only me, he called me by name: ‘Hello, Colpani’. After a good performance he only told me to continue as I was doing. He and Dr. Galliani have always trusted me.
“One of my uncles has an advertising dealership that works with Milan and Inter, so he always has tickets to the match. Once in 2005 he brought me and my best friend to San Siro. I think it was being played against Cagliari. In short, we sit in a Sky box, next to us we see Berlusconi. My uncle takes us by the hand and brings us to him: the president, a picture with us? He makes us sit on our knees, my uncle takes the picture.”
