Alberto Gilardino says Genoa’s win over Sassuolo gave the team ‘awareness’, but they now face the strongest team in Serie A. The Grifone host league leaders Inter on Friday and face a tough ask against a Nerazzurri side that are unbeaten in their last 11 Serie A matches, something Gilardino is only too aware of:
“The victory against Sassuolo gave us great awareness, it was what we needed. Now we’re going up against the strongest team in the league and we’ll try to play the game in the best possible way.
“The boys want to go for a positive result and have a positive attitude in the match. We have to be persistent in going into this game.
“Tomorrow I’ll have everyone available, I’m happy to see the full squad, I also see the lads very smiling and present. Against Inter we’ll have the full squad, including Retegui and Messias.
“Strootman? He’s recovered, in the middle we have Badelj, Frendrup, Malinosvkyi but also Kutlu, Jagiello, Thorsby or Messias who can play as a centre half. There are many solutions that I can put in place.”
