The 30-year-old Turkish midfielder was notably absent from the pitch during Inter’s commanding 4-0 victory over Lecce on Sunday. Prior to the match, coach Simone Inzaghi disclosed to the press that Calhanoglu had encountered an issue during training, prompting the coaching staff to exercise caution regarding his participation.
Calhanoglu holds a pivotal role in Inzaghi’s tactical setup, serving as a linchpin in Inter’s buildup play and contributing significantly in the attacking third. So far this season, he has showcased his prowess by netting 11 goals and providing three assists in 30 appearances.
In a recent press release, it was revealed that Calhanoglu underwent medical evaluations at the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Rozzano. The tests revealed a minor strain in the adductor muscle of his right thigh. Further assessments are scheduled in the upcoming days to monitor the extent of the issue.
Consequently, the seasoned midfielder will be sidelined for Inter’s upcoming encounter against Atalanta on February 28th. Additionally, his availability for the subsequent match against Genoa on March 4th remains uncertain as he continues to undergo evaluation and treatment for his injury.
