Milan have reportedly begun talks with goalkeeper Mike Maignan with a view to extending the Frenchman’s contract. Calciomercato report that Milan face a pivotal negotiation akin to recent talks that secured a contract extension for Rafael Leao, who now earns €7 million annually, the highest wage in the squad. Maignan, currently earning €2.8 million per season, seeks a comparable, if not higher, recognition. Milan’s initial offer reportedly aims to double the goalkeepers current salary to €5.5 million, a significant but feasible increase.
CM claim that negotiations were expected to commence in the spring, and indeed they have begun. During the international break, representatives from both sides engaged in relaxed discussions, initiating an optimistic negotiation process.
Amidst contract negotiations, Maignan’s talent has not gone unnoticed, with Bayern Munich eyeing him as a potential successor to Manuel Neuer, while Chelsea consider him a formidable option to bolster their goalkeeping department.
