Former Inter and Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan says former teammate Romelu Lukaku still needs to explain why he left the Nerazzurri. Lukaku was reportedly in talks to remain with Inter after a season-long loan spell, but entered into contract negotiations with rivals Juventus, before eventually joining Roma on loan.
In an interview with Vox to Box (via SOSfanta), former Nainggolan spoke about Lukaku’s move and offered some advice of his own:
“Given my personality, and the opportunity Roma has given me, I would stay another year. Roma signed Lukaku on the last day of the transfer window, with a hefty contract, and a team already set. Without them, he would have stayed at Chelsea without playing.
“I would show recognition to Roma. He is a different character; he still has to tell his story of leaving Inter. I often hear from him, but we don’t talk about football. I don’t know what he will do, but if I were in his place, I would show recognition to Roma.”
