Hellas Verona have confirmed they will be taking action after a Verona fan was caught on camera mimicking the gesture of an airplane followed by a crash, clearly referencing the Superga disaster, which was commemorated just a week ago. Filmed from the away section, the supporter’s action has sparked outrage, and Hellas have confirmed that measures will be taken against them upon identification using the available footage.
The gesture comes just a week after the recent 75th anniversary of the tragedy that claimed the lives of the Grande Torino footballers, along with members of the coaching staff, journalists, and crew aboard the plane that crashed on May 4, 1949, after departing from Lisbon.

Hellas have since made an announcement on their social media accounts, stating:
“Hellas Verona FC informs that it has taken all necessary actions for the identification and removal from the stadium of the individual who today became the protagonist, during #VeronaTorino, of gestures that do not reflect the values of this Club and its great supporters.”
