Former Roma and Lille coach Paulo Fonseca is a step away from succeeding Stefano Pioli at Milan this summer. The Rossoneri have confirmed today that Pioli is leaving the club after the last game of the season, having led them to their first league title in 11 years, in 2022.
According to Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri are eager to appoint Fonseca, who previously managed Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk, to lead the team next season.
Fonseca has been offered a three-year contract worth €3 million per season. Milan’s chances of securing him have improved after Marseille withdrew from the competition, frustrated by Fonseca’s delay in committing.
With Marseille out of the picture, the path is clear for Fonseca to become Milan’s new coach, but the club must first settle matters with Pioli before taking definitive steps to bring the Portuguese coach on board.
