Milan and Theo Hernandez are set to continue their partnership, with a contract renewal expected after the summer transfer window. The French left-back is considered a key player for Milan’s future, and the club is preparing to offer him a significant pay raise.
The new contract is likely to be on par with Rafael Leao’s recent deal, which amounts to around €6.5 million net per season. This reflects Hernandez’s importance to the team and his status as a leader in the dressing room.
While no official meeting has been scheduled yet to discuss the renewal of Hernandez’s contract (currently set to expire in 2026), La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Milan plan to address this matter after completing their summer transfer business. The club is currently focused on finalizing deals for striker Alvaro Morata and other reinforcements such as Pavlovic and Fofana.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now in a management role at Milan, recently emphasized the club’s intention to retain key players like Hernandez, Leao, and Maignan, stating that they are among the best in the world in their positions. He also mentioned that with RedBird’s backing, Milan has the financial flexibility to strengthen the squad without needing to sell players.
Despite previous speculation linking Hernandez to Bayern Munich, no concrete offers have been received for the French international. Milan hopes this situation remains unchanged, as they aim to build a stronger team around players like Hernandez for the upcoming seasons.
The last meeting with Hernandez’s agent, Manuel García Quilón, took place about two months ago. Discussions are currently on hold as Hernandez enjoys his vacation following France’s elimination from the European Championship and a demanding season where he played over 3,000 minutes for Milan and 1,300 minutes for the national team.
Barring any unexpected developments in the transfer market, Milan is confident in securing Hernandez’s long-term future with the club, viewing him as an integral part of their project to compete for top honors and potentially secure a second star on their jersey.
