The plusvalenze (capital gains) case involving Juventus and its former executives has once again come to the forefront. The jurisdiction for the investigation has shifted from Turin to Rome, following a ruling by the Court of Cassation. Despite this change, the outcome remains the same. The Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has officially requested that all those under investigation, namely the former top management of the Juventus club, be brought to trial.
Calciomercato report how approximately ten individuals remain under investigation in this case, including key figures who have since left the club. Among them are former president Andrea Agnelli, former vice-president Pavel Nedved, former sporting director Fabio Paratici, and former CEO Maurizio Arrivabene.
The charges against these executives, initially formulated by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office in the Prisma investigation and now confirmed by the Rome Prosecutor’s Office, include market manipulation, obstruction of supervisory authorities, and false invoicing. The most significant allegation remains the systematic creation of fictitious capital gains, along with illicit maneuvers regarding player salaries during the Covid-19 pandemic.
While these charges are moving towards trial following the request for indictment, a separate investigation is still ongoing. This concerns the alleged crime of false accounting in Juventus’ financial statements as of June 30, 2022. This file, like the one on capital gains, has been assigned to prosecutors Lorenzo Del Giudice and Giorgio Orano, who specialize in economic crimes, under the coordination of Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini.
