Lazio are closing in on a significant addition to their squad as they target Viktor Djukanovic to revamp their left wing. The Montenegrin winger, currently playing for Hammarby, has emerged as the ideal candidate to fill the role.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that after already securing five new signings this summer—Tchaouna, Noslin, Dele-Bashiru, Tavares, and Castrovilli—Lazio is now focused on adding another attacking midfielder or winger to complete their transfer window activities. The club is particularly looking for a left winger who can serve as an alternative to Zaccagni, who recently participated in his first training session with the team. Ideally, they seek a versatile player capable of covering multiple positions in the 4-2-3-1 formation being implemented by coach Baroni.
Djukanovic, 20, has caught the attention of Lazio’s management. After starting his career in Montenegro with Buducnost Podgorica, he moved to Hammarby in Sweden a year and a half ago, where he quickly established himself as a key player. Lazio has reportedly made a €5 million offer to Hammarby, which the Swedish club seems inclined to accept. Djukanovic is expected to sign a five-year contract worth €1 million per season, with potential increases.
Technically skilled and fast, Djukanovic prefers playing on the left despite being naturally right-footed. He has a knack for scoring, having netted 11 goals in 25 matches during his first season in the Swedish league. His performances have also earned him a spot in the Montenegrin national team, where he would reunite with Lazio’s Marusic.
While Djukanovic is the frontrunner, Lazio is also considering other options. Sassuolo’s Armand Lauriente is on their radar, but his €15 million valuation is deemed too high for a backup role. Another potential target is Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham, who can play both as a central attacking midfielder and a right winger. Tottenham might accept a bid of around €10 million, but Lo Celso’s salary demands of €4-5 million per year could pose a challenge to Lazio’s wage structure. Consequently, Calvin Stengs from Feyenoord remains a viable alternative, with recent contacts suggesting a possible swap deal involving Isaksen, who is also attracting interest from Fenerbahce.
Meanwhile, Gaetano Castrovilli has officially joined Lazio and participated in his first training session with the team. His arrival, along with the other new signings, has brought the club’s total expenditure to around €40 million, offset by €12 million in sales, including the transfers of Luis Alberto and Immobile.
