Roma have taken a significant step in its pursuit of Lorenz Assignon, the young right-back from Rennes. The Italian club have made their first official offer, aiming to secure Assignon on a loan deal with an option to buy. This move comes after months of interest in the player, who is seen as a top choice for strengthening Roma’s right flank.
According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the offer was made verbally on August 9 and is expected to be formalized in writing soon. However, Rennes, the club that owns Assignon’s rights, have expressed a preference for a permanent transfer rather than a loan arrangement.
The French club’s asking price is reportedly set at €12 million, which includes a fixed fee and additional bonuses.
To successfully acquire Assignon, Roma will need to adjust its proposal to meet Rennes’ conditions. This development marks an important moment in Roma’s transfer strategy as they seek to bolster their squad for the upcoming season.
