In a stunning development, Paulo Dybala is reportedly on the verge of leaving Roma for Saudi Arabian club Al-Qadsiah. According to Argentine sources, the 30-year-old forward has accepted a lucrative three-year contract worth a total of €60 million from Al-Qadsiah.

Calciomercato report how this unexpected turn of events comes after Roma granted Dybala permission to negotiate with the Saudi Pro League side. The Italian club had recently indicated that Dybala was no longer considered indispensable to their project, factoring in tactical considerations, the player’s injury history, and financial implications.

Dybala’s potential departure is influenced by several factors:

1. Tactical and physical concerns: The Argentine missed 23 of Roma’s 54 official matches last season due to injuries.

2. Financial considerations: With bonuses, Dybala’s contract would have cost Roma €16 million this year.

3. Roma’s recent investments: The club has already spent around €70 million on strikers Soulé and Dovbyk.

4. Contract clause: Dybala’s current deal includes an automatic one-year extension if he plays at least 50% of matches.

While Dybala’s €12 million release clause expired on July 31, Al-Qadsiah is reportedly willing to offer a slightly higher fee to facilitate the transfer. This would allow Roma to quickly return to the transfer market, with the club already in talks with agent Fali Ramadani regarding a potential move for Jeremie Boga from Nice.
