Bologna Sporting Director Di Vaio: “Italiano has great passion and ideas, but it takes patience”

Marco Di Vaio, Bologna’s sporting director, spoke to Sky Sport before the team’s match against Atalanta, addressing the club’s transition under new manager Vincenzo Italiano and the challenging week ahead.

Regarding Italiano’s impact, Di Vaio emphasized the need for patience: “We are in the process of learning, growing, and gaining experience. We know it takes time, as it does every time you change a coach. It’s not new, it requires patience, but we see that the players are gradually opening their minds, understanding what the coach is asking of them.”

Di Vaio acknowledged the difficulty of the situation: “It’s already complicated for a coach normally, entering a team that has done well is even more difficult, but the manager has patience, will, great passion, ideas, and we are convinced that in the end, he will succeed in getting his philosophy into the players’ heads.”

Looking ahead to a crucial week featuring matches against Atalanta, Liverpool, and Parma, Di Vaio expressed excitement: “It’s a beautiful week. We start tonight against a team that held a great side like Arsenal. They’ve had mixed results at the start of this season, but they remain very, very strong. The most intriguing challenge is the one in Liverpool, but we’re thinking about staying focused, and then we’ll face the others, hoping to always bring home the maximum.”
