Leipzig’s Poulsen warns Juventus: “We won’t fail in front of our fans”

RB Leipzig’s Danish striker Yussuf  Poulsen spoke about his history with the German club and their upcoming Champions League match against Juventus. As the record holder for appearances and goals scored for Leipzig, Poulsen shared his thoughts in an interview with Tuttosport (via Gianluca Di Marzio).

Reflecting on his 12-year journey with the club, Poulsen recalled a touching moment: “The most beautiful memory is of a child who stopped me in the city saying that without me, this team would not have been what it is now. Feeling the support of the fans is wonderful.” Poulsen has been instrumental in Leipzig’s rise from the third division to the Bundesliga and their first trophy wins.

Regarding the match against Juventus, Poulsen stated: “They are an excellent team, they’ve started strong. But so have we. We’ve conceded little and created a lot, and we’ll have the support of the fans at the Red Bull Arena. It will be a great game.”

When asked about which Juventus player he admires most, Poulsen responded: “I don’t like to talk about individuals, especially because Juventus is a very strong collective. But if I have to choose one, I’d say McKennie. We know him well from his time at Schalke 04.”

Poulsen also mentioned his familiarity with Vlahovic: “I’ve faced him several times in national team matches. The last game was won by Denmark 2-0, so I don’t think he has a good memory of that match.”
