Despite suffering a 3-1 loss to Napoli, Como manager Cesc Fabregas found positives in his team’s performance and had high praise for Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka. In a post-match interview, Fabregas shared his thoughts on the game and his admiration for certain players.
Fabregas began by expressing his disappointment with the result but pride in his team’s effort: “I’m not satisfied because we lost and we wanted to come here to win. I certainly made mistakes, but I really liked the courage. This is our identity, our style of play. I’m proud of the first 60 minutes we played.”
The Como manager acknowledged Napoli’s superior squad depth as a deciding factor in the match: “Then Napoli’s roster made the difference, allowing them to raise the level with Neres and others. But I think for an hour we played a great game. Seeing Napoli, a team that can win the Scudetto, unable to find a solution against us gives me confidence.”
When asked about improving his team’s defensive performance, Fabregas highlighted the need for his young squad to learn from small details and be more assertive in certain situations. However, he couldn’t help but express his admiration for Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka:
“Give me Lobotka please, what a player, mama mia! Players like that make you win the game, for his ability to understand football, to play it, to recover balls. I’m crazy about players like that.”
Fabregas also revealed that he had a post-match discussion with Napoli manager Antonio Conte: “I spent ten minutes in his locker room, talking and exchanging opinions on everything. He’s been coaching for years, he’s won everything, he’s coached great players, and for me, it’s a pleasure to have put him in a bit of difficulty, it’s incredible. For me, he’s one of the best coaches of the last 10-15 years.”
