In a post-match interview following Lazio’s narrow 1-0 victory over Monza, head coach Marco Baroni expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and addressed the challenges of a demanding schedule. The match took place during the 12th round of Serie A at the U-Power Stadium, where Lazio showcased their resilience and tactical prowess.
Baroni began by praising his players, stating, “I am happy for the team, which played a great match. Seven games in 21 days are really difficult. They are great players, but from within, I see many true men; this is the most important thing. It makes it even more beautiful to train them.” His comments highlight the importance of character and teamwork in achieving success.
When discussing team management, Baroni emphasized his inclusive coaching approach: “I have always trained everyone; it is part of my journey. I have never neglected anyone. In the most important satisfactions, those who played less helped me. I work with everyone so that they all feel like starters. This way, these guys do not make mistakes in training or in matches.”
Baroni also touched on individual performances and team dynamics: “From my first interview, I said I want a team that shows itself in small behaviors and in being a team. There is a group of guys who work with dedication. We are happy with the path we are taking, but we can still improve. Now many players are going to national teams, which is a reward for them but also for me and my staff. We have a few days to recover before important matches.”
Concluding his remarks, Baroni reflected on the evolving nature of football and the demands placed on coaches: “Football is evolving. We coaches cannot complain about too many matches; we must continue to move in this direction. The mental aspect counts more and more; the mind must drive the legs. When there is this kind of attitude, everything becomes a bit easier.”
