Napoli have officially confirmed the signing of Verona striker Giovanni Simeone on loan with an option to buy next season. The 27-year-old completed his medical a few days ago but the announcement of the move was held up due for bureaucratic reasons which have now been resolved.
The move is expected to cost Napoli €3.5m with a further €12m if the move is made permanent. The option to sign the player will become an obligation is certain criteria are met relating to performances and appearances.
Simeone spent last season on loan at Verona from Cagliari but was signed outright following a successful campaign that saw him score 17 goals in 35 appearances for the club.
