Rafael Leao, named man of the match in AC Milan’s recent victory over Crvena Zvezda, shared his thoughts on the game in an interview with Sky Sport.
He emphasized the importance of the match, stating, “It was an important game; the coach had told us that in the locker room. However, with the players we have, we could have done much better in front of our fans. We complicated the game a bit, but in the end, we took home the three points.”
Leao identified a mental aspect as a key issue for the team, saying, “It’s a mental issue because in these matches, if you don’t give your all, the opponent gains confidence, and then details make the difference. That’s how we conceded a goal. In the end, we all fought together and deserved our goal. I try to help my teammates, and they help me. We are a team; we kept battling and earned that goal. Even those who came on provided more energy.”
Discussing his teammate Theo Hernandez, Leao remarked, “There comes a moment in the season like this, but he is a very strong player and has been mentally focused. Sometimes he doesn’t score or provide assists, but he is a defender and needs to help out defensively. He is a teammate I really like; we are friends. I wish him goals and assists.”
