AC Milan are on the verge of completing a significant transfer coup with the imminent arrival of Kyle Walker from Manchester City. The experienced English defender, who has amassed an impressive 17 trophies in his career, is set to bring much-needed leadership and a winning mentality to the Rossoneri squad.

Calciomercato report how Zlatan Ibrahimovic, now serving as Senior Advisor to AC Milan’s ownership and management, has been instrumental in orchestrating this move. The Swedish legend not only proposed Walker as a target, but also personally led negotiations with the player. Ibrahimovic’s persuasive words quickly convinced Walker to embrace the new challenge in Serie A.

Last Friday, Milan and Walker reached a full agreement on personal terms, with the defender set to sign a two-year contract worth approximately €4 million per season, plus €1 million in bonuses.

Recent developments have seen a slight change in the transfer formula. Instead of releasing Walker on a free transfer, Manchester City has opted for a paid loan deal worth €1 million. The final details being ironed out concern the option to buy, with Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani working to reduce City’s €4 million asking price.

The deal is expected to be finalized within the next 24 hours, with Walker scheduled to arrive in Italy on Tuesday for his medical examinations. The 34-year-old has prioritized Milan throughout the process, turning down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia in favor of the Italian giants.

In a telling sign of the transfer’s imminent completion, Walker was notably absent from Manchester City’s squad for Sunday’s match against Ipswich Town, not even making the bench.
