Roma have reached a full agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Dutch defender Devyne Rensch. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 22-year-old versatile fullback is expected to arrive in Italy today, January 20, 2025, marking Roma’s first acquisition of the winter transfer window.
The two clubs have finalized the details of the transfer, with the fee reported to be around €5 million. This agreement comes after several days of negotiations, during which Roma gradually increased their offer to meet Ajax’s valuation.
Rensch, born in 2003, is known for his versatility and speed, making him a valuable addition to Roma’s squad. Capable of playing on both the right and left sides of defence, his ambidexterity allows him to operate effectively across multiple positions on the pitch.
The young Dutchman’s arrival addresses Roma’s need for defensive reinforcements, particularly in the fullback positions. His ability to play on either flank provides coach Claudio Ranieri with tactical flexibility, a quality the Italian manager has been seeking in the transfer market.
