Nevada sports betting first became available in the state in 1949 and has evolved during the last 70+ years to include online wagering. However, bettors in the Silver State must register for an online account in person at a physical sportsbook, making offshore betting sites, which follow a unique set of regulations, far more appealing.
We introduce you to the 10 best offshore NV online sportsbooks and offer insight into what they offer and how they work through detailed reviews.

Nevada Sports Betting Law
Legal Nevada sports betting has been around since Gov. Fred B. Balzar signed the Open Gambling Bill (Assembly Bill 98) on March 19, 1931.
Sports betting in Nevada only became available in 1949 at turf clubs. In 1975, Nevada casinos were given the go-ahead to begin offering retail betting, and it was only in January 2010 that online sports betting in Nevada became legal. Later, in 2010, Nevada released its first mobile sportsbook, STN Sports.
However, it is important to note that Nevada has a unique stipulation for online betting that requires all bettors to sign up for online and mobile betting and make their first deposit in person.
Nevada doesn’t limit its sports betting options to traditional betting only. The Silver State offers legal horse racing and pari-mutuel betting despite not having any active horse racing tracks.
Although Nevada has not passed a bill legalizing Daily Fantasy Sports, a 2015 Memorandum from the State Attorney General allows for legal DFS betting in the state. However, sports betting operators must have an NV gaming license to offer their services. Since providers weren’t willing to follow this step, no DFS betting options are available in the state.
Betting on Esports in Nevada is also legal. In 2017, Governor Brian Sandoval signed SB 240 into law, legalizing Esports betting in the state. Bettors could begin legal wagering on Esports on July 1, 2017. However, SB 165 was passed in 2021, establishing the Esports Technical Advisory Committee, and Esports betting went live in the state only in 2022.
Nevada Betting Timeline
Sports betting in Nevada has been around for over 70 years, and it was one of the few states unaffected by PASPA. However, there have been many changes in recent years, with the latest updates outlined below:
- Oct. 2, 2024 — Nevada sports betting handle was $455.2 million in August, showing a 5.4% increase from the previous year.
- Aug. 28, 2024 — Pro poker player Damien LeForbes entered a plea of “guilty” for money laundering and the illegal operation of a sportsbook in Nevada.
- Aug. 21, 2024 — Resorts World was on the receiving end of a complaint from NV’s sports betting regulator, which claimed allegations pertaining to money laundering.
Who Can Bet on Sports in Nevada?
Nevada betting comes with several regulations and requirements that bettors must adhere to in order to practice legal and safe betting within the state. If you want to bet on sports in NV, you’ll need to know the following:
- Legal Age – To place sports bets in Nevada, you must be 21 years or older.
- Within State Borders – If you want to place bets using regulated mobile or online betting platforms in Nevada, you must be within state lines.
- Mobile Betting – Regulated NV sports betting is available online and on mobile devices and smartphones.
- Remote Registration – If you want to enjoy regulated mobile sports betting in the Silver State, you must first register in person at one of the retail sportsbooks, where you must complete an application and a W-9. You will also need to make your first deposit of between $50 and $100 before you are approved for online and mobile betting in NV.
- Retail Sportsbooks – According to Statista, Nevada has over 176 retail sportsbooks, many of which are located in casinos.
Are Sportsbook Winnings in Nevada Taxable?
Nevada applies a state tax of 6.75% on personal revenue over $134,000. Additionally, the IRS classifies winnings from sports betting as personal income and taxes winnings over $600 at a rate of 24%.
Pros & Cons of Nevada Betting
NV sports betting is fairly accessible, with almost all forms available, including horse racing betting, DFS, and Esports betting. However, bettors are restricted from wagering on entertainment events like the Oscars and Grammys, as well as on any amateur non college sports events, sports, or athletes.
While you can access Nevada betting options in-person and online, those wanting to bet from home or on the go will need to register and make their first deposits in person at their nearest retail bookie. This requirement makes online gambling less convenient than bettors would hope.
- Accepts NCAA bets
- Offers mobile and in-person bets
- Esports and DFS are legal
- In-person registration for online betting
- Limits betting on entertainment events

How We Choose the Best NV Sports Betting Apps & Sportsbooks
Finding the best sportsbooks in Nevada requires in-depth testing and close inspection of each potential site. We introduce you to the criteria our betting experts use when measuring up each bookie, giving you an idea of how we rate both old and new betting sites.
- Safety & Security – Top sites for NV online sports betting have licenses from their local gaming authorities, which ensure a high standard of online betting, fair odds, and bettor safety. We advise against joining unlicensed sportsbooks.
- Deposit & Payout Methods – Safe betting websites provide a range of reputable payment methods, including E-wallets, credit cards, debit cards, bank transfers, and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
- Bonuses & Promotions – While many NV betting sites provide generous promotions, it is essential to ensure that these offers also have fair terms and conditions and low wagering requirements.
- Range of Nevada Sports – NV sportsbooks worth joining provide between 20-50 sports for you to bet online, including top NV sports, like football, soccer, and basketball.
- Depth of Markets – The more diverse the sports betting markets, the more ways you have to wager and win. We look for sportsbooks that offer varied lines on the Raiders and on the Golden Knights.
- Quality of Nevada Betting Odds – NV sports sites with competitive odds offer a better shot at higher payouts and apply a much lower vig to their lines. As such, you get more for your money.
- Mobile Interface – If you enjoy mobile betting, find sites that offer Nevada betting apps. These interfaces should provide seamless wagering on smaller devices and access to all sports, markets, and odds.
- Customer Service – Always opt for NV sportsbooks that provide 24/7 customer support. It also helps to find sites with live chats or phone lines that ensure instant service and support.
Banking and Depositing at Nevada Betting Sites & Apps
NV sports betting sites provide several safety features, including secure payment methods that bettors recognise and feel happy using. Some of the most popular banking options these sites provide are:
Cryptocurrencies
Litecoin, Bitcoin, and Ethereum are all cryptocurrencies accepted by top crypto sports betting sites. These decentralized digital assets adhere to unique regulations, which means they don’t require KYC verification and can offer instant, fee-free transactions.
Credit/Debit Cards
Debit and credit cards from providers like Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express are popular deposit options and usually process instantly. However, they’re less commonly provided as payout options and when they are, they have high transaction fees.
Bank Transfers
Many online betting apps in Nevada offer bank transfers for withdrawals. While depositing your winnings directly into your bank account, it can take up to 15 days to do so and incur high fees.
eWallets
Skrill, Neosurf, and Neteller are all popular e-wallets accepted by NV betting sites. These systems act as intermediaries between your bank account and your online gambling account. As such, you remove the need to share banking details online and ensure safer transactions.

Common Types of Bets at NV Betting Apps & Sites
Nevada betting sites offer many exciting markets that you can use to place bets on your favorite sports. Some of the top betting markets include:
- Moneyline – These straightforward bets allow you to put money on the team you predict will win the match.
- Spread betting – The NV sports betting site applies a point spread to both teams. For a bet on the favorite to win, the team must win outright with more points than the spread. A winning bet on the underdog requires the team to win outright or lose by fewer points than the spread.
- Parlays – These risky bets comprise several smaller bets called legs. To win your parlay bet and a payout, you must win all of these smaller bets.
- Over/Under – Totals bets allow you to bet on the total combined score of the two participating teams. The bookie releases their prediction of the total and you must wager whether this will be over or under this value.
- Prop Bets – A prop bet allows you to bet on happenings within the game (game props – like goals scored in the first half) or player performance (player props – like MVP or first to score)
- Live Bets – In-play betting markets enable you to place bets on sports matches already in play using fluctuating odds. There are usually cash out betting options, too.

Residents of the Silver State have access to regulated mobile sportsbooks, but there is a stipulation attached to their use. Bettors must register to use these mobile platforms and make their first deposit in person, which is inconvenient at best.
However, offshore sportsbooks like those on our list also provide NV sports betting apps, that allow you to register online, making them convenient and user-friendly. These top sports betting apps may come as downloadable applications, but most come as mobile-optimized websites, which are compatible with all devices and iOS and Android operating systems.
