Former Juventus Director Fabio Paratici Set for Surprising Tottenham Return After AC Milan Talks Collapse

Start

Fabio Paratici is set to make a surprise return to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to multiple reports, after his move to AC Milan collapsed.

The 52-year-old Italian executive has reportedly agreed terms to come back as Technical Director, once his global football ban officially ends on July 20, 2025.

Why Did Paratici Leave Tottenham?

Paratici initially joined Spurs in 2021 as the Managing Director of Football, following a successful stint with Juventus where he oversaw one of the club’s most dominant eras.

However, in 2023, he was forced to step down from his Tottenham role after FIFA extended a 30-month suspension related to financial misconduct during his Juventus tenure.

The ban prevented him from taking part in any football-related activities worldwide, cutting short his first spell in North London.

AC Milan Pull Out of Paratici Deal Over Timing Concerns

AC Milan had emerged as strong contenders to appoint Paratici as their new Sporting Director earlier this year.

The Rossoneri reportedly agreed terms with the Italian but ultimately withdrew due to the legal and timing complications surrounding his ban.

With the summer transfer window opening before Paratici could legally begin work, Milan opted to pursue other options.

Tottenham Bring Paratici Back as Technical Director

Now, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has moved swiftly to bring Paratici back to the club.

This time, Paratici will return as Technical Director, a role that will place him in charge of the club’s footballing operations, including player recruitment and long-term squad planning.

He will work alongside incoming CEO Vinai Venkatesham, formerly of Arsenal, who is also due to begin his tenure this summer.

Paratici to Decide Future of Spurs Manager Ange Postecoglou

One of Paratici’s first major tasks upon returning will be overseeing the future of manager Ange Postecoglou. The Italian may have the final say on Tottenham’s managerial direction, amid speculation that the Australian could leave the club at the end of the season.

Spurs have endured a poor Premier League campaign, languishing in the bottom half of the table. Regardless of European success, it appears Postecoglou’s job is far from secure.

Could Simone Inzaghi Be the Next Tottenham Manager?

With Paratici’s extensive background in Serie A, speculation is already mounting that he could turn to Simone Inzaghi, a coach he knows well from his time in Italy.

Inzaghi has earned plaudits for his tactical acumen at Inter Milan, and his profile could appeal to Paratici as a potential successor at Tottenham.
