Robert Lewandowski Is Back In Barcelona’s Matchday Squad For Crucial Inter Clash

Start

The latest Robert Lewandowski injury news has revealed that the Polish star is fit to face Inter on Tuesday.

Lewandowski has been included in Barcelona’s matchday squad for the crucial Champions League semi-final second leg clash.

The update will come as a huge boost to the LaLiga giants. With the tie poised at 3-3, the Nerazzurri will be hoping Lewandowski’s inclusion doesn’t tip the scales in the Blaugrana’s favor.

In the first leg, Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries (2) scored for Simone Inzaghi’s charges. Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and a Yann Sommer own goal replied for Barca.

That night, Lewandowski was absent owing to knee tendon issues. He also missed the games against Real Madrid, Mallorca and Real Valladolid.

Robert Lewandowski Injury News – Will He Start Vs Inter?

As encouraging as Robert Lewandowski’s injury news is for Barcelona, it’s unlikely he’ll start at the San Siro. The Polish goal machine hasn’t featured since the LaLiga win over Celta Vigo on 19 April.

With no minutes under his belt since, head coach Hansi Flick will probably start with Ferran Torres up top. Lewandowski will start as a sub and can be deployed from the bench if need be.

Aged 36, Lewandowski won’t be risked from the first whistle but just his presence in the matchday squad will provide a huge boost to the Blaugrana.

The former Bayern and Dortmund striker has netted an impressive 40 goals in all competitions this season. He scored twice in the 4-0 quarter-final first leg win over BVB on 9 April.

Lautaro Martinez Injury Update – Will He Start Vs Barcelona?

Although Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is fit to start vs Barcelona, it remains to be seen whether he will do so. The Argentine World Cup winner is more primed to feature from the off than Lewandowski.

Martinez came off at half-time of the first leg draw, being replaced by Mehdi Taremi. He missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Verona so he had a better chance of featuring on Tuesday.

That has paid dividends with Martinez reportedly telling Simone Inzaghi he is fit and raring to go. At the time of writing, it’s unknown whether the Inter head coach will grant his star forward his wish.

The likes of Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries were rested on Saturday to ensure they are match ready for the arrival of Barcelona on Tuesday.
