Fabio Capello has revealed what Inter must do in order to get the better of Barcelona on Tuesday.

The Nerazzurri and Barca are evenly tied at three goals each after an absorbing Champions League semi-final first leg encounter last week. Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries (2) scored for the Italian giants.

Global wonderkid Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and an unfortunate own goal from Yann Sommer replied for the LaLiga leaders.

The Inter vs Barcelona H2H UEFA Champions League record sits firmly in the Blaugrana’s favor. However, the Beneamata did get the better of their opponents at this stage of the competition 15 years ago.

Wesley Sneijder, Maicon and Diego Milito scored in the SF 1st leg at the San Siro. A defensive masterclass at the Nou Camp with ten-men ensured former coach Jose Mourinho led his charges to the final after a 1-0 loss in the 2nd leg.

Naturally, the Inter faithful will be hoping for a similar outcome this evening and Capello has told the players what they must and mustn’t do.

Fabio Capello On Inter Vs Barcelona

I hope Inzaghi’s men approach the game as they did in the second half in Catalunya, rather than how they played in the first half,” Capello wrote in his column for Gazzetta dello Sport.

This will require the right amount of courage, which was evident after the break at Montjuic.”

With Fedirico Dimarco tipped to start as an attacking left full-back, Capello went on to add that the Nerazzurri won’t be sitting back at the San Siro.

Lamine Yamal is on the flank, which means the game plan is unchanged. Inter will try to hurt their opponents without giving up on quality on the left flank,” wrote the ex-coach.

Switching play from right to left and using two arrows like Dumfries and Dimarco could be one of the keys to qualification.

“If the game is balanced, I hope Inter will avoid sitting as deep as they did in the last 20 minutes against Bayern. Against Lamine, that would be suicide.”
