Napoli are closing in on the signing of Federico Chiesa from Liverpool, with talks progressing swiftly as the Partenopei look to reinforce their attack.
Federico Chiesa Transfer News: Napoli Submit Loan Offer to Liverpool
After a frustrating season at Liverpool, Federico Chiesa could soon be on his way back to Serie A, with Napoli pushing hard to finalize a move for the Italian international.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have already submitted an offer to Liverpool for an initial loan deal with an option to buy, though the Premier League side are currently pushing for an obligation to buy.
Chiesa, who joined the Reds from Juventus last summer for a modest €12 million fee, has struggled with injuries and form. He has made just a handful of appearances under Arne Slot, failing to break into the first-team picture at Anfield.
Now, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis sees the 27-year-old as a key piece in a broader rebuild of the squad.
Napoli Transfer Targets
Chiesa is not the only major attacking target on Napoli’s radar this summer. The club has already been linked with Darwin Nunez from Liverpool, hoping to take advantage of his inconsistent Premier League form and offer him a leading role in Serie A.
At the same time, Napoli has also submitted a contract offer to Jonathan David on a free transfer from Lille. The Lille striker is seen as a potential replacement for Victor Osimhen, with negotiations expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
Chiesa’s deal, however, appears the most advanced. Reports suggest it is further along than Napoli’s interest in Kevin De Bruyne, with both the club and player aligned on the vision for his role.
Does Chiesa Want to Leave Liverpool?
Chiesa already wants to leave Liverpool, not just because of game time — it’s also about reviving his international career. The winger has fallen out of the Azzurri setup due to limited minutes and frequent fitness issues during his time at Liverpool.
Napoli can offer him Champions League football, a starting role, and a Serie A environment where he has previously thrived. His reported €4.5 million net salary is not seen as a problem by Napoli’s board.
Chiesa’s inability to settle at Liverpool may also stem from Arne Slot’s demanding training routines. As noted by The Guardian, the club’s intense fitness tests push players to their physical limits.
While the idea has enhanced strong teams, it may not have suited Chiesa’s injury-prone profile — and a return to Italy could offer the reset he needs.
