Milan Set Huge Rafael Leao Asking Price Amid Bayern Interest

Start

The latest Rafael Leao transfer news has revealed that Milan have set a huge asking price for their star player.

Newly appointed head coach Max Allegri and recently-appointed sporting director Igli Tare will be keen to keep Leao at the San Siro next season.

Leao is considered one of the finest wingers in world soccer. However, the Rossoneri’s failure to qualify for European competition means they have financial implications to navigate.

Last week, Leao was sounded out for a Milan exit by 1990 Ballon d’Or winner Lothar Matthaus. The German legend believes he should join Bayern Munich.

Rafael Leao Transfer News

According to reports, Bayern Munich have stepped up their interest in Rafael Leao. The German champions have already seen club legend Thomas Muller leave the club this summer.

Doubts also surround the long term future of Leroy Sane. Therefore, reinforcing their attacking players on the flanks remains Bayern’s top priority this summer.

That is why the best offshore sportsbooks will have shortened the price on Leao transferring to the Allianz Arena in the coming weeks. Bayern have reportedly already opened talks with the Portuguese star and his representatives.

Vincent Kompany’s side aren’t the only team in the running to sign Leao. Arsenal hold a long-standing interest and Real Madrid have also shortlisted the 25-year-old incase Vini Jr moves to Saudi Arabia.

Rafael Leao Asking Price

According to MilanNews, the current Rafael Leao asking price is €130million ($148m). That in itself would make any potential Bayern Munich deal extremely complex.

Not only that, the Rossoneri have the fallback of Leao’s release clause. It currently stands at €175m ($199m) so the Serie A giants can definitely call the shots.

Bayern have not been shy in the transfer market in recent years and will likely test Milan’s resolve. However, even the quoted figure for Leao will likely see the Bundesliga giants want to pay in instalments.

Similar to the record signing of Harry Kane in 2023. Bayern reportedly paid an initial €97m with the total fee rising to €118m with add-ons.

Will Rafael Leao Leave Milan?

With Manchester City closing in on Tijjani Reijnders, star winger and team-mate Rafael Leao will perhaps be tempted by a new venture.

Reijnders imminent departure will ease some of the financial strain at the San Siro. Nonetheless, the new players the Reijnders cash will potentially bring in won’t necessarily convince Leao to stay.

New head coach Max Allegri will want to build his side around the 25-year-old star. But if an astronomical offer for Leao does come in and is accepted, it’s very likely he’ll move on.

Rafael Leao Bayern Salary

If Rafael Leao does move on from Milan to join Bayern, what would his salary be at the Allianz Arena? Naturally, he would be one of the highest earners at the club.

As it stands, Leao earns €123,269 per week at the San Siro. That makes him the highest earner at the Rossoneri but it’s likely he would want at least double that in Germany.

With Thomas Muller and potentially Leroy Sane off their books, Bayern would quite literally offer him a sum in the region of around €275,000+. Then performance related bonuses would follow.
