The latest Serie A transfer news has revealed that Napoli boss Antonio Conte is planning a reunion with Christian Eriksen.
Conte has already been active in the 2025 summer transfer window. The maverick Italian has signed Luca Marianucci and Kevin De Bruyne so far.
Darwin Nunez, Jack Grealish, Alejandro Garnacho, Yunus Musah, Thomas Partey and Matt O’Riley have also been strongly linked to the 2024-25 Serie A champions.
However, Conte is also considering bringing in the recently-released Eriksen. The Danish international left Man United after the expiry of his contract in June.
Christian Eriksen Transfer News
FootItalia sources have confirmed that Napoli are interested in signing central midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer this summer.
Eriksen has spent the last four seasons in England and was part of the Man United roster who won the 2023-24 FA Cup and 2022-23 EFL Cup.
In June, Napoli declared their interest in free agent Thomas Partey. However, the current Arsenal midfielder’s wage demands are likely to be a problem.
Therefore, pursuing Eriksen is a visible option for the Azzurri. Especially as they have already gotten Kevin De Bruyne on board for €6million a season and won’t want to splash out on high wages for some of their other transfer targets.
Although he wouldn’t command a starting berth in every game, Conte believes Eriksen’s experience as a squad player will prove instrumental for the 2025-26 campaign.
Rangers and Besiktas are also considering a move for Eriksen but the Dane would favor a return to Italy under his former head coach.
When Did Christian Eriksen Play Under Antonio Conte?
Christian Eriksen played under Antonio Conte whilst at Inter between 2020-2021. The current Napoli boss snapped up the Danish star during the 2020 January transfer window.
Eriksen went on to play 26 times that season and netted four goals. At the end of the campaign, the duo earned Europa League runners-up medals when they lost the finale to Sevilla.
The following year, Eriksen and Conte did taste success at the San Siro. The Nerazzurri went on to win the Scudetto in 2020-21 whereby Eriksen was a key member of the roster.
He played 26 times in Serie A and chipped in with three goals. The Scudetto success means Eriksen has won four league titles in his career. His other three came at Ajax between 2011-2013.
