Napoli Push for Darwin Nunez as De Laurentiis Leads Fresh Liverpool Talks

Start

Napoli are still pushing to sign Darwin Nunez from Liverpool, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis personally leading discussions to break the deadlock over a transfer fee.

According to Corriere dello Sport, De Laurentiis has already met with Fali Ramadani, the intermediary handling the deal, in an attempt to seal the Uruguayan’s move to the Stadio Maradona.

Although Ramadani is not Nunez’s agent, he is brokering the deal between the clubs.

Is Nunez Going to Napoli?

One key hurdle appears to be out of the way: Nunez is open to joining Napoli, and personal terms are reportedly agreed.

The 26-year-old is said to have accepted a five-year contract worth €5 million per season and is keen to restart his career in Serie A after a turbulent spell in England.

The striker joined Liverpool in 2022 for a fee that could rise to £85 million, but after two inconsistent seasons, the Reds are now open to letting him leave – albeit for the right price.

How Much Do Liverpool Want for Nunez?

Despite Nunez’s willingness to join, the two clubs remain far apart on valuation. Liverpool are demanding around €60–65 million, while Napoli’s latest structured offer sits at €43 million plus bonuses, roughly totalling €50 million.

Liverpool sees Nunez as a high-value asset, even after a modest 2024–25 campaign with 7 goals and 7 assists in 47 appearances.

The club is also aware of Saudi Pro League interest, which could raise the price or add a bit of urgency to Napoli’s negotiations.

Napoli Nunez Alternatives

If talks with Liverpool collapse, Napoli are prepared to turn their attention to Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca, though his valuation is also steep at €40 million.

Napoli are working on both deals simultaneously, hoping to pressure one side into lowering demands.

Head coach Antonio Conte has made a striker a priority signing to provide Romelu Lukaku with some healthy competition.

Napoli have already signed Kevin De Bruyne, which goes to show the club’s ambition under Conte.

De Laurentiis is said to view Nunez as a cornerstone of the club’s next attacking cycle and is pushing hard to deliver the signing.

Meanwhile, Napoli have also agreed terms with Noa Lang from PSV for the wing and remain in talks with Bologna for Sam Beukema to reinforce the defense.

Will Nunez Choose Napoli Over Saudi?

Though Saudi sides like Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr remain interested in Nunez – and have made offers in the past – the striker prefers to stay in Europe.

Napoli are hopeful that with De Laurentiis involved directly, a breakthrough can be reached.

With pre-season fast approaching, and Nunez not in Arne Slot’s long-term plans at Liverpool, the coming weeks could prove decisive.
