The latest Serie A transfer news has revealed that Sassuolo have named their price for Armand Lauriente amid talks with Sunderland.
Both clubs have been promoted to their respective top-flights in England and Italy for the 2025-26 campaign. Now, the duo are deep in negotiations about the sale of Lauriente to the Premier League newbies.
Fabio Grosso’s side have already seen the likes of Andrei Marginean, Andrea Consigli, Emil Konradsen Ceide, Jeremy Toljan and Pedro Obiang leave the Mapei Stadium this summer.
The 2006 FIFA World Cup winner will be desperate to keep hold of Lauriente for the new season. However, the former France Under 21 international is keen to try a new venture after spending the last three years with I Neroverdi.
Serie A Transfer News – Sunderland Want Sassuolo Star
As reported by L’Équipe, Sunderland have already opened talks with Sassuolo over Armand Lauriente. The English Premier League side are keen to add star quality to their roster after earning promotion last year.
The Black Cats have already completed the signings of midfielders Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki and Enzo Le Fee. Now, head coach Regis Le Bris wants to increase his action options as he continues his squad overhaul.
Lauriente was one of the standout figures for I Neroverdi last year and is a fans favorite at the Mapei Stadium. The left-winger has actually worked under Le Bris when they were both at Lorient.
The French boss knows all about Lauriente’s qualities and attributes and is keen to bring the 26-year-old to Wearside for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Although Sunderland are one of the favorites to be relegated with the best offshore sportsbooks in 2026, bringing Lauriente to the Stadium of Light would increase the Mackems chances of survival.
How Much Would Armand Lauriente Cost Sunderland?
According to TransferMarkt, Armand Lauriente is valued at €15million. The French winger’s contract runs out in June 2027 so Sunderland believes they can negotiate a cut-price deal.
Various news outlets suggested that the Serie A side would be looking for approximately €20m for Lauriente. However, Sassuolo will demand at least €25m for their star man.
The Black Cats have already opened the chequebook this summer. Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki and Enzo Le Fee cost a total of €75m so Fabio Grosso will hold out for the highest fee possible.
That would allow the I Neroverdi head coach to replenish his attack. The Azzurri legend faces the unenviable task of keeping Sassuolo in the top flight after earning promotion last season.
Armand Lauriente 2024-25 Stats
The Armand Lauriente 2024-25 stats highlight why Sunderland are so keen to sign the Sassuolo star. Last season, Lauriente played predominantly as a left-winger and rattled home 19 goals and provided six assists across 34 appearances in all competitions.
18 of those strikes came in Serie B as I Neroverdi won the title. For his efforts, Lauriente was also named as the Serie B Player of the Year.
Aged 26, the former Lorient and Rennes man is coming into his prime years and Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris believes he can flourish on Wearside in 2025-26.
