Alvaro Morata has hit out at former club Galatasaray and accused the Turkish giants of failing to ‘honor their commitments.’

The Milan forward had his loan terminated with the Super Lig side on August 11. That meant the Rossoneri had to shell out €5million in compensation to the Lions.

Okan Buruk’s men had originally agreed to a €6m loan for one season with an obligation to buy the Spaniard for a further €8m in January 2026.

However, Morata was desperate to leave Turkey so he could secure a move back to Serie A. By quitting Galatasaray, the 32-year-old also lost out on approximately €650,000 in earnings.

Will Alvaro Morata Sign For Como?

In June, it was reported that Como had taken a big step in their pursuit of Milan forward Alvaro Morata. Now, Cesc Fabregas’ side is on the cusp of completing their 11th summer signing.

Morata has already agreed terms with the Biancoblu. It’s expected that the 32-year-old forward will initially move to the Sinigaglia on loan before sealing a permanent switch for €10m.

Fabregas’ side – who are +500 with Serie A betting sites to finish in the top four this season – have already signed a number of young stars to complement the club’s project.

Now, the Spanish legend is keen to be reunited with his compatriot who will offer a wealth of experience in the roster. Especially to the younger players who have come onboard.

Alvaro Morata’s Message To Galatasaray Fans

Although Alvaro Morata didn’t enjoy his time at Galatasaray, he did have very positive things to say about the club’s loyal supporters.

Dear Gala fans and the people of Turkey. I want to sincerely thank you for the affection, warmth, and support you have shown me.

You made me feel welcome from the very first day, and your support has been among the most extraordinary I have ever experienced in my career.”

Morata then went on to blast and highlight the issues he encountered with the Lions hierarchy. He was especially upset with the fact that club commitments were not honored.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my experience with the club. There were moments when the given word and the respect for fundamental values were not upheld.

Until the very end, the commitments made were not honored, to the point where I was left with no choice but to forgo part of my salary and other contractual rights I had already earned through my work (the figure published is not accurate).

For me, in life and in work, there are principles that should never be broken, such as respect for each person’s rights. Failing to recognize and compensate what has been earned is, to me, unacceptable and contrary to the values of fairness and professionalism I believe in.

I know these matters are often not spoken about openly, but I believe it is right to give the fans the real explanation of what happened. You and the city of Istanbul will always remain in my heart, and I wish you the very best, today and in the future.

The Final Farewell From Alvaro Morata

A special thank you also goes to the coach and his fantastic staff — I am certain you will continue writing the history of Galatasaray. My heartfelt thanks to all my teammates for the moments we shared, and to all the people working at the training facilities.

With affection, Álvaro.”
