Who Are The New EA Sports FC 26 Icons?
Soccer fans across the globe are eagerly anticipating the release of EA Sports FC 26, as the historic video game is set to be released on September 16th on multiple consoles.
Formerly, and more commonly, known as ‘FIFA’, the game has dominated the soccer industry for over two decades and continues to be one of the most played video games in the world.
Every year, EA Sports adds a multitude of features, from game modes to challenges, but one of the most anticipated additions are the new playable icons.
Soccer legends like Pele, Zinedine Zidane, Diego Maradona and Johan Cruyff have been on the game to use for several years now and new options are added for every release.
This year, a trio of Serie A legends have been added to the game, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Francesco Totti and Giorgio Chiellini will be able to use on Ultimate Team.
Totti, who recently saw his son retire from soccer at just 19-years-old, made 785 appearances for Roma and won the Serie A, two Coppa Italias, two Supercoppa Italianas and the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
The Italian is often regarded as the best player in Roma’s history, being treated as a god amongst men after spending his entire career with the Giallorossi.
Another 2006 World Cup winner will join Totti, with Giorgio Chiellini taking a spot in EA Sports FC 26 after winning nine consecutive Serie A titles between 2012-2020 with Juventus.
The Italian legend now works as Juventus’ Head of Football Institutional Relations, helping the Serie A side with marketing schemes across the globe.
The final Serie A addition comes through Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored 156 goals in 283 Serie A appearances for AC Milan, Inter and Juventus.
During his various spells in Italy, the Swedish soccer star won the Scudetto five times and retired from the sport in July 2023 with the Rossoneri at 40-years of age.
EA Sports FC 26 reveals its Icon lineup in a new trailer, featuring stars like Zlatan Ibrahimović, Alex Morgan, and Toni Kroos.
Thirteen Icons will be available at launch, with unique Archetypes for gameplay.
The game launches on September 26.
