All summer long it appeared that Juventus were going to secure the signing of Randal Kolo Muani, but why has the deal with PSG collapsed?
Kolo Muani spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign on loan at the Allianz Stadium. During his time with the Old Lady, the France international scored eight Serie A goals and chipped in with one assist in 16 appearances.
Owing to his strong performances for the Bianconeri, supporters were keen to see Kolo Muani make a permanent switch to Italy as a replacement for Dusan Vlahovic.
Why Randal Kolo Muani’s Juventus Deal Is Off
After a successful and ‘happy’ temporary spell in Turin, Randal Kolo Muani looked set to sign for Juventus during the summer transfer window. However, that will not be happening.
Juve and PSG couldn’t agree on the formula of figures. This seemingly upset the French giants who pulled the plug on the deal and stopped all talks with the Old Lady.
In fact, the Italians opted to re-sign Kolo Muani on loan when the Parisians wanted a permanent transfer. This proposal wasn’t ideal from head coach Luis Enrique’s perspective but he was willing to negotiate.
The Bianconeri were willing to take Kolo Muani back on loan and include a €50million option to buy at the end of the season in the deal. PSG were adamant they wanted an obligation. Hence why they pulled out of talks.
What Did Damien Comolli Say About Randal Kolo Muani?
Damien Comolli – who is the Juventus general manager – explained further why a deal for Randal Kolo Muani couldn’t be completed.
“We had a few discussions with PSG, but it didn’t go any further. I don’t know how it will end. We have to pay attention to UEFA’s financial fair play.
“Every euro counts. We already have two very good strikers with Dusan Vlahovic, who will stay with us, and Jonathan David. With those two, we are very happy with what we have.”
With Comolli confirming that Vlahovic is staying in Turin, it meant a deal for Kolo Muani wasn’t a huge necessity to complete, despite his successful time in Turin last season.
Now, Lois Openda is set to move to the Allianz Stadium instead – giving Igor Tudor three strikers to utilize over the 2025-26 season.
Who Will Randal Kolo Muani Sign For?
Unsurprisingly, there is Premier League interest in Randal Kolo Muani. Manchester United had been long-term admirers but have signed Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have thrown their name into the mix. The Europa League winners have made contact with PSG just hours to go before the summer transfer window shuts.
Other contenders come in the form of Aston Villa and Newcastle. The Villans are keen to add more firepower up top but are closing in on a deal for Jadon Sancho.
Meanwhile, the Magpies have added Nick Woltemade to their roster and are on the cusp of completing a deal for Yoane Wissa. As it stands, Spurs appear to be the front-runners.
