Manchester United Star Considers Serie A Switch As Red Devils Contract Nears An End

Manchester United are reportedly looking to offload Casemiro as his contract comes to an end in June 2026 and the Brazilian has attracted interest from Serie A.

Will Casemiro Sign New Manchester United Contract?

The Brazilian midfielder is in his final year at Old Trafford, as his deal will come to a close in June 2026 and there have been no talks over an extension going forward.

Casemiro’s move to Manchester in August 2022 left many soccer fans confused, as the Red Devils paid €71 million for a player that was reaching the latter stages of his career.

However, the Brazilian went on to prove the skeptics wrong in his opening season, making 51 appearances for the Red Devils and scoring in the Carabao Cup final in a 2-0 win over Newcastle.

Despite this strong start in Manchester, the former Real Madrid star would go on to face heavy criticism in his following two seasons at the club, with many suggesting Casemiro was starting to show his age.

After going in and out of the side, Casemiro re-established his place in the United midfield for the 2025/26 season and has started in five of the Red Devils’ seven league matches so far.

Ruben Amorim has preferred the Brazilian over the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and the Englishman has been linked with a move to Serie A after a lack of minutes.

Casemiro returned to the United starting eleven during a 2-0 win over Sunderland, after missing the previous match through suspension following a red card against Chelsea.

Although the former Real Madrid star is an important member of Ruben Amorim’s squad, United are reportedly looking to offload the Brazilian before his deal comes to a close.

One major factor is Casemiro’s salary, as the 33-year-old is reportedly earning over €400,000 per week and is the highest paid player at the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be looking to lower United’s wage bill to adhere to FFP parameters, meaning Casemiro could move on to a new venture in 2026.

Could Casemiro Move To Serie A?

The former Real Madrid midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the 2024 and 2025 summer transfer window, but a deal failed to materialize.

Other clubs have also shown interest in the five-time Champions League winner, but a new option has entered the fray as Fiorentina are reportedly considering a move for the Brazil star.

La Viola have struck gold by signing a player deemed to be struggling at Manchester United in David de Gea and the Spaniard could play a huge role in convincing his former teammate to move to Italy.

The Spanish shot-stopper left Old Trafford after 12-years with the club, after he received heavy criticism for his performances towards the end of his spell.

Fiorentina are in desperate need of some added quality after failing to win any of their opening five Serie A matches and Stefano Pioli has come under increasing pressure.

The Italian side are reportedly considering Erik ten Hag as a replacement, who has previously worked with both De Gea and Casemiro during their time in Manchester together.

Casemiro would need to take a considerable pay-cut if he were to join the Serie A side, as Moise Kean is reportedly the highest paid player in Florence – earning €110,000 per week.
