Inter are working on a contract extension for Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko with the player reportedly very keen to extend his stay with the Nerazzurri. The 36-year-old has featured more prominently this season, following Romelu Lukaku’s unfortunate run of injuries since his return to Milan.
Sport Mediaset journalist Marco Barzaghi, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Dzeko was in line to receive an extension with the Nerazzurri, given that he in the final months of his existing deal. Inter are expected to focus on Dzeko’s new deal after they agree terms with Milan Skriniar, who is edging ever close to a new contract.
According to Barzaghi, the former Manchester City and Wolfsburg striker is expected to take a wage cut in order to sign on for another season with Inter. Touching on the matter, Barzaghi said:
“We have done some research in recent days, we have been talking about it for some time, there is the intention, with a small obstacle, to extend his current contract downwards. There is the willingness from both parties to sit down at the table and think about an extension of their relationship.”
