Max Allegri believes Juventus need the international break to recover from their injury crisis as they will be playing every four days in the new year. The Bianconeri were comfortable winners over Lazio, winning 3-0 and propelling themselves up to third in the Serie A standings. Speaking to DAZN after the game, Allegri was quick to point out how much Juve have changed over the last month, having won six league games in a row without conceding a single goal:
In this last month and a half, the boys have done very good things. Playing against Lazio is not easy, we were good at closing the passing lines and allowed them little to nothing. We ran a lot and made important changes, which raised the technical level in the final third so we had very good ball management.”
The break? It was needed because we have too many players with question marks over them anyway. Now Chiesa will go to the national team and then he will prepare well so he can raise his match pace. Same thing for Pogba. We needed to catch our breath now. When we come back we will play every four days and we have to try to go all the way in the Europa League. Playing two games a week will be complicated because we have guys who have had little continuity.
In the second half the team grew physically. I would have been angry if we had conceded goals in the final part of the game.
Kean? Now he is much more balanced. When you are young they all come at you. Compared to last year he has 20 pounds less. Now he is more fit.
I am used to speaking little, I would love to give explanations, but then in football you say one thing and then the next day the exact opposite happens. Football is simple: you try to win. You can do it one way or the other, but the important thing is to do it.
Napoli are in a league of their own and are winning at a incredible average. Napoli could be at 53 points at the end of the first half and so the Scudetto quota could be 90 points. Scudetto for Juve? No one would have said we would be at this point a few months ago.”
