Sergio Ramos is in-line for a surprise return to European soccer as he gets set to leave Monterrey later this month.

Ramos is widely recognized as one of the greatest center-backs of all-time. During his 16-year spell with Real Madrid, the Spanish legend earned global superstar status.

Now, it appears Ramos could test himself in Europe once again with Italy the likeliest destination. Naturally, that has alerted a number of clubs including AC Milan and Juventus.

Sergio Ramos Transfer News

According to Fabrizio Romano, veteran defender Sergio Ramos is going to leave Mexico and has cast his eye over a move to Serie A.

The world famous transfer guru doesn’t often get things wrong so followers of Italian soccer can expect to see the 39-year-old playing in Italy’s elite at the start of the year.

One possible destination for Ramos is Juventus. The latest Dusan Vlahovic injury update doesn’t bode well for the Bianconeri and head coach Luciano Spalletti wants to replenish all areas of his roster.

Although Jonathan David could step up to replace Vlahovic, defense is still an area of concern. Especially as Bremer is interesting Tottenham.

If Ramos were to join, he would only be a temporary solution owing to his age. However, his presence and influence could be vital as Juve embarks on the second-half of the campaign.

An AC Milan Reunion With Luka Modric?

With Juventus being mooted as a possible destination, AC Milan is one of the favorites to land his signature. Even more so as Thiago Silva won’t rejoin Milan.

The Rossoneri are very much in the market for an experienced center-back to help in their quest to land Champions League soccer next season. And who better to lead the charge than Ramos?

Furthermore, a San Siro switch provides the perfect opportunity to reunite with Luka Modric. The Real Madrid and Croatia legend has enjoyed a stellar start to his Diavolo career.

Both players still very much have fire in the belly to play at the highest level. And if Modric can adapt to Italian soccer so seamlessly, that’ll give Ramos all the incentive he needs.

Not only that, Ramos has hopes of making Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad. The three-time major international tournament winner could enhance his chances of making the team by playing in one of Europe’s elite soccer divisions again.

Sergio Ramos Career Stats And Trophies

Sergio Ramos’ career stats, trophies and personal accolades make it clear to see why he is considered one of the greatest defenders of all-time.

During his time with Real Madrid, Ramos won LaLiga five times, the Champions League four times, the FIFA Club World Cup on four occasions whilst also lifting three Super Cups and two Copa del Rey’s.

Once he quit Los Blancos in 2021, Ramos went on to win back-to-back Ligue 1 titles with PSG. He also lifted the Trophee des Champions for the French giants.

In terms of records and personal awards, no defender has played more games (142) or scored more UCL goals than Ramos (17) since the tournament re-branded in 1992.

His European legacy doesn’t stop there as he was inducted into the FIFPRO World11 on 11 occasions. Interestingly, he was included in ten straight seasons between 2011 and 2020.

Furthermore, Ramos has been the recipient of two UCL Defender of the Year awards as well as being named as LaLiga’s best defender five times.

On the international stage, the Spanish legend was included in the 2012 European Championship Team of the Tournament. Not only did he taste success with Spain that year, he also did in 2008.

His biggest soccer achievement came in 2010 when he was part of the La Roja side who won the World Cup. Something of which he’ll look to emulate once again.

And potentially lining up alongside Luka Modric in the New Year can help realize that dream.
