Matteo Moretto Says That AC Milan Are ‘Not Currently Considering’ Sergio Ramos
The 39-year-old will become a free agent on New Years Eve.
According to the latest Sergio Ramos transfer news, AC Milan are “not currently considering” the Spanish legend.
They are the words from sports journalist Matteo Moretto who was quick to quash the rumors that have surfaced about the defender this week.
Ramos is hotly tipped to leave Mexican side Monterrey upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the month. However, it appears that Milan won’t be his next destination.
Sergio Ramos Transfer News
On December 2, Milan’s interest in Sergio Ramos gathered pace after transfer guru Fabrizio Romano insisted that the veteran defender was toying with the idea of moving to Serie A.
Naturally, a move to Milan made most sense. Especially as the Rossoneri’s pursuit of Thiago Silva was ruled out by the player’s agent. Head coach Max Allegri is still keen to sign an experienced center-half and Ramos fits the bill.
Not only are the Diavolo in the market for a new defender, supporters were keen to see a reunion between Ramos and Luka Modric at the San Siro. That idea now appears to be a fading dream.
Matteo Moretto On Sergio Ramos
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto was quizzed on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel about the possibility of Sergio Ramos moving to Milan.
As much as supporters would love to see the Spaniard on board, Moretto was quick to dismiss the idea.
“I’m not aware that Milan has Sergio Ramos’ name on their list. I’m not aware that he’s a player they’re evaluating today, Moretto explained.
“I haven’t received any confirmation that this type of name may have been put forward. I don’t know that, and I absolutely don’t want to contradict anyone.
“The only information I want to share is that Milan are not currently considering Sergio Ramos as a player to strengthen their defense.”
What Next For Sergio Ramos?
Even though Matteo Moretto played down the rumors, not all is lost. Sergio Ramos still reportedly likes the idea of coming to Serie A in 2026.
A reunion with Luka Modric is still a small possibility. The duo know each other very well from their Real Madrid days. Furthermore, Modric’s instant impact at the San Siro is something of which Ramos believes he can emulate.
Away from Milan, the likes of Juventus, Napoli and Inter Milan are all viable options. Granted, Ramos’ salary would be an issue but to have someone with his influence in the roster can make the difference between winning major trophies.
Something of which Ramos knows all about having lifted a total of 25 at club level and three for the Spanish national side.
