AC Milan’s Curva Sud Take to Social Media to Lambast Ticket Prices and Reduced Allocation at Cagliari

AC Milan’s first match of the new year sees them make the 870km trip to Cagliari, in what is one of the longest treks of the season for travelling Rossoneri fans.

However, Cagliari vs AC Milan has seen the visitors given just half the minimum amount of tickets typically allocated to away teams for the trip to Sardinia in January.

Milan’s Curva Sud – the most passionate ‘ultras’ named after the San Siro’s ‘South Curve’ – have taken to social media to voice their anger.

In a post on Instagram, they said: “Cagliari Calcio were supposed to provide 820 tickets for away fans, as per the Lega Serie A resolution, but instead, as has been the case for years, they’ve only granted 415, with fans who’ve already bought flights, spending hundreds of euros, consistently being left without tickets.”

Official stadium regulations dictate that Serie A and Serie B teams must reserve an away section with a “minimum capacity equal to 5% of the total capacity” for visiting supporters.

Cagliari’s Unipol Domus has a capacity of 16,416, so Milan fans are irate that they have only been allocated half the amount they should have.

Curva Sud Angered By Cagliari vs AC Milan Ticket Prices

The supporters group are no strangers to applying pressure; they have a colorful history of criticizing their own boardroom members, and in particular, league officials.

The Curva Sud account continued with another post, reading: “Added to this disgrace is the €49 ticket price compared to the €25 for the home stands, for a stadium built with construction site scaffolding tubes.

“A further insult, in addition to having 405 fewer tickets than they were entitled to, is the cost of the section, which is a modest €120… AND AC MILAN, AS ALWAYS, PASSIVELY SUFFER WITHOUT BLINKING AN EYE…”

“Let’s see if Serie A and AC Milan will deign to try to resolve the problem, asking Cagliari to respect the rules and award the 405 missing tickets in the section next to the away fans at the same price, or if they will once again be complicit in this disgrace.

“And since the issue of away fans’ prices is of little concern to many, perhaps it’s time for our club to pay the away fans who come to San Siro in kind.”

What is Happening With Cagliari’s New Stadium?

Cagliari finalized plans for a new state-of-the-art, 30,000-seat stadium back in July, which was boosted by an extra 5,000 seats in updated plans.

City officials are hoping to have the stunning oceanfront arena completed in time to be considered as one of Italy’s Euro 2032 host stadiums.

Cagliari’s current stadium – the Unipol Domus – was constructed in 2017 as a temporary home for the club, while blueprints for a new stadium were finalized with the city council.

Cagliari’s new stadium plans have been delayed on several occasions, having originally been slated for a 2026 opening.

The Curva Sud’s anger is understandable given they are being charged increased prices for a reduced allocation, at a temporary stadium that has been forced to undergo renovations to meet Serie A stadium standards.
