Fiorentina fans will no doubt be eager to know what Manor Solomon could bring to the Viola as his arrival looms ever closer.

Manor Solomon could bring pace and bite to Fiorentina

Manor Solomon is joining Fiorentina on an initial short-term loan from Tottenham.

The Israel international is undergoing a medical ahead of a loan deal with €10m buy option, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Should everything go to plan, Fiorentina will be getting themselves a direct, high-tempo winger who can change games.

The 26-year-old is a right-footed left winger, known for carrying the ball and cutting inside to create or shoot.

Solomon relies on pace and a low centre of gravity, thriving when he can attack defenders with the ball at his feet.

Premier League analysis has previously highlighted his take-on volume and success rate, alongside a clear preference for direct dribbling.

His biggest recent proof of end product came at Leeds United, where he recorded 10 goals and 12 assists in the English second tier.

Solomon played a key part in Leeds’ decisive run-in, including a last-day winner at Plymouth and other late match-winning contributions.

His running could complement Albert Gudmundsson’s preference for combination play, while also giving Moise Kean more space to attack.

Fiorentina-bound Fabio Paratici signed Solomon for Tottenham, suggesting he is a big fan of the winger.

In addition, Solomon knows Dodo well, having made 72 appearances alongside him at Shakhtar Donetsk.

The potential sticking points involving Solomon

Although Solomon is impressive on his day, there are also some issues that Fiorentina will need to watch carefully.

The first point to make is that his injury record has not been particularly solid in recent years.

Solomon has played more than 20 league games only twice since 2020/21 due to knee issues and recurring muscle problems.

He missed 50 matches for Fulham and Tottenham combined between January 2022 and summer 2024.

Solomon struggled at Villarreal, starting one match and making 11 substitute appearances, averaging around 32 minutes per outing.

He registered one goal and four assists, though three of those assists came in the Copa del Rey against fifth-tier opposition.

And while Solomon was great for Leeds, this was in the second-tier Championship. He is still relatively unproven in the big top flights.

Furthermore, Adam Pope of BBC Radio Leeds previously spoke of the club’s doubts about Solomon’s fitness.

“I understand Leeds United could have had him back on loan for a second spell from Spurs but decided to buy Noah Okafor from AC Milan instead,” he said.

“Solomon’s injury record in recent seasons I believe was a consideration why United were inclined not to seek a permanent deal for the Israel international.”

This is despite Solomon only missing four games for Leeds last season, due to a hamstring injury early in the campaign.

Nevertheless, with Fiorentina at real risk of relegation, Solomon seems like a gamble worth taking, especially on the current terms.
