Juventus Want Parma Striker Pellegrino As ‘Extreme’ Dzeko Option Emerges

Juventus are reportedly considering a January move for Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino as they search for a more traditional number nine.

New Juventus director Marco Ottolini has a busy January transfer window on the cards as he looks to strengthen Luciano Spalletti’s squad.
Juve’s 1-1 draw with Lecce brought issue of potential attacking reinforcements back to the fore.
Dusan Vlahovic is injured and may not be back until March, while Jonathan David and Lois Openda have struggled.
Tuttosport describes Pellegrino as Juventus’ preferred profile, the striker scoring eight times in all competitions this season.
Parma signed him from Velez Sarsfield for about €2m last January and now value him at around €30m, according to the report.
In addition, Marco Ottolini has strong links with Parma chief executive Federico Cherubini.
However, with Parma fighting to stay up, they will no doubt be unwilling to sell mid-season.
Pellegrino is a 6ft 3in tall striker who thrives in the box and in the air, and is not afraid to do the dirty work.
In addition, he is great at linking up play and has a superb left foot.
The attacking alternatives on Juventus wishlist
Other names have been mentioned, including Atletico Madrid forward Alex Sorloth and Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca.
However, the report claims both players are also unlikely for Juventus to snap up in January.
Roma’s Artem Dovbyk is seen as a more attainable option, but the prospect of a loan move would be difficult.
The report claims Roma would prefer a permanent deal for the Ukraine international.
A cheaper alternative is Edin Dzeko, with Tuttosport calling the veteran a low-cost, six-month solution in an “extreme” scenario.
Dzeko, whose Fiorentina future looks uncertain, has a long-standing relationship with Spalletti from their time at Roma.
Tuttosport adds Juventus don’t plan to move David or Openda on in January.
