Farioli FC Porto Renewal Confirmed Until 2028
Francesco Farioli extends his stay at FC Porto until 2028, turning down Premier League and Serie A interest to continue the Dragons’ rebuild.
Farioli FC Porto Renewal Agreed Until 2028
Francesco Farioli is set to remain at FC Porto for at least another season, keeping the Italian coach tied to the club until June 2028. The board led by André Villas-Boas and Farioli agreed to extend the contract after the team’s excellent campaign. The renewal not only means a salary update and recognition of the work done in the 2025/26 season, but also sends a clear message: despite links to major Premier League jobs and rumors about Serie A top clubs such as Juventus, AC Milan, Inter and Napoli, Farioli reaffirms his total commitment to the Dragons’ project.
“The start of the season was brilliant. It’s hard to ask for more or better, but the reality is that what we’ve done is already done. We don’t have time to celebrate what we’ve already achieved.” (A. Villas-Boas)
In statements to O Jogo, the coach admitted he was “surprised at how quickly the players adapted to a different rhythm” and expressed his appreciation “to the captains,” whose impact “has been enormous, and the ability to maintain the standard at a high level is very important, in addition to their commitment to the Club.”

Porto Chose Continuity With Farioli
Villas-Boas considers Farioli the right coach to continue the Dragons project. Farioli had already assured that he is not thinking of leaving mid-season and left the door open to renewal:
“The priority is to do things right for the team. We all want to go in the right direction. Maybe this is the first time in my short career where I feel I can build things on top of others” (Francesco Farioli)
On the club’s side, there is full recognition of the coach’s importance in the team’s “rebirth.” Since day one, FC Porto’s identity and the city have established a strong connection. The knowledge of the club that Farioli has always demonstrated.
Farioli’s Vision for Porto Youth and the Transfer Market
Considering himself privileged to be the coach of one of the best clubs in Europe and driven by a very strong commitment to FC Porto, Francesco Farioli is already looking ahead.
In youth development, the goal is to try to build and pave the way for great talents, although the standard has to be very high.
In the market, he aims to try to make the team more balanced. Greater squad depth, adding quality and the right profile. Farioli wants to add the right mentality, something that for us is absolutely essential.
