Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund delivered another sharp reminder of what Manchester United have lost, as Napoli drew 2-2 with Inter at San Siro.
McTominay scored twice to earn Napoli a point in a huge Serie A clash on Sunday night, after Inter led on two separate occasions.
Federico Dimarco opened the scoring early, before McTominay levelled with a composed finish after Napoli pressed Inter into mistakes.
Inter went back in front through Hakan Calhanoglu’s 73rd-minute penalty, but McTominay struck again late to complete his brace.
Napoli coach Antonio Conte was sent off after the penalty decision, adding extra drama to a match already on the edge.
McTominay and Hojlund keep Napoli in Serie A title race amid Man Utd cup woes
McTominay and Hojlund continue to go from strength to strength after leaving Manchester United, who exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle on Sunday.
The managerless Red Devils fell to a 2-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in their third-round clash at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, McTominay and Hojlund both played a key part in keeping Napoli firmly in title contention.
While the Scotland international scored a brace and was voted Man of the Match, his teammate was a thorn in Inter’s side.

He pressed from the front, competed for long balls and helped Napoli’s midfield push up higher in key phases.
‘He attracts every pass from the back and single-handedly keeps the entire Nerazzurri defence at bay,’ wrote Calciomercato.
‘The match was marred only by a great missed chance. But otherwise it’s a one-man showdown, with him dominating with frightening physical strength.’
For Manchester United supporters, the subplot is hard to ignore.
While their team continues to be in dire straits, two former United forwards are influencing a title race in Italy.
McTominay, in particular, is now delivering decisive goals in the biggest matches, on the biggest stages.
McTominay sends bold Inter message
Speaking after the game, McTominay suggested Inter would have struggled if they had as many absentees as Napoli.
“I always thought we were in the game,” McTominay told DAZN Italia.
“The players are giving everything. No Anguissa, no Lukaku, no Gilmour, no De Bruyne, no Rrahmani at the start of the season, Neres injured…
“I mean, it’s as if Inter Milan had no Lautaro Martinez, no Thuram, no Barella, no Calhanoglu.
“It’s difficult when we are pushing every single game like this.
“It’s an absolute credit to the players, because the manager and the staff have put everything in place for us to succeed and do well.
“Fair play to the boys, because we’ve got no ‘give up’ here.”
Napoli could potentially revive the career of another Premier League flop, with Raheem Sterling apparently a target for Conte.
