Lazio Keen On Ruben Amorim Appointment

The former Manchester United manager could make an instant return to the sport, as Ruben Amorim is reportedly considering a move to Italy.

After a difficult spell in England, Amorim was made surplus to requirements in the opening week of 2026 and the Red Devils have appointed Michael Carrick for the remainder of the season.

During his time in Manchester Amorim took charge of 63 matches, picking up 25 wins, 15 draws and 23 defeats – but it was the Portuguese coach’s final press conference that sealed his fate.

Amorim reportedly received a monstrous severance package of around €14million and could earn another boost in the near future as a job in Serie A may become available.

Maurizio Sarri’s relationship with the Lazio board has been on the down-slope since the club were handed a transfer ban in March 2025, as the Italian believed he was not made aware of the Laziali’s financial situation.

Recently, Sarri commented on the Italian side’s lack of ambition in the transfer window and took aim at Lazio’s hierarchy despite earning a victory over Hellas Verona.

These remarks did not go down well with Lazio president Claudio Lotito and Sarri could be moved on before the start of the 2026/27 campaign.

Maurizio Sarri Questions Managerial Future

Maurizio Sarri has endured a difficult few months both professionally and personally, as the veteran coach underwent heart surgery during the final days of 2025.

Astonishingly, Sarri returned to the sideline just a week after his successful heart operation and highlighted his devotion to the Lazio supporters.

The Italian has been in professional soccer management for over 25-years, coaching some of the biggest teams in Italy like Napoli, Juventus and Lazio – while picking up a Scudetto in 2019/20.

Sarri also lifted the Europa League trophy with Chelsea during his single season in England (2018/19) and is now regarded as one of the best managers in Europe.

Lazio parted ways with Sarri in March 2024 during his third season in charge, before hiring the Italian again just over a year later – meaning the club are not afraid of cutting ties with the Italian.

Another concern for the club is Lazio’s disciplinary record and this could play a part in the Italian side’s decision over Sarri’s future in Rome.

If the Laziali decides to bring Sarri’s time at Stadio Olimpico to an end, the veteran coach may decide to retire from the sport completely as he turned 67 on January 10th.

Sarri has not commented on his future in management, but the former Juventus coach has taken some time away from the sport to be with his family before.
