Paul Pogba could be handed a career lifeline in Serie A as the former Juventus midfielder has failed to impress in Monaco.

Como 1907 are reportedly monitoring Paul Pogba’s situation in Monaco, as Cesc Fabregas believes he can get the best out of the Frenchman.
The former Juventus midfielder made a long-awaited return to professional soccer in November 2025 – after spending over two years away due to a drug suspension.
Pogba tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) twice between August and October 2023 which initially brought a four year ban.
After a strong appeal, the Frenchman saw his ban decrease to 18 months and was able to return to professional soccer in March 2025.
However, since making his return Pogba has made three appearances for Monaco and has missed the club’s last two matches with a calf injury.
This latest knock has caused Thiago Scuro (Monaco CEO) to question the 32-year-old’s future at the club and suggested a possible exit this summer.
Scuro said: “The program and the plan for Paul is not working the way we expected in the beginning,” Scuro said on Wednesday.
“He is very disturbed by the fact that he is struggling, he wants to be more available, to increase the minutes on the pitch.
“If it does not work, for sure, the parties can sit down in the summer and try to have another discussion. Where do we go?”
This uncertainty has caught the attention of Cesc Fabregas as Como look to increase their global reach amid plans over a new stadium.
The Serie A side could sign Pogba for less than €10million, but may have to sway the 32-year-old away from the idea of retirement.
Could Paul Pogba Retire?
Paul Pogba was regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe during the mid 2010’s, earning a spot in the 2015 FIFA FIFPro World XI and lifting the World Cup in 2018.
However, the Frenchman has been through severe adversity in recent years, especially when you look into his injury history.
The 32-year-old returned to Juventus in July 2022 after a six-year spell with Manchester United and went on to miss 52 matches in the 2022/23 campaign.
Pogba has already missed 20 matches for Monaco this season and his latest injury concern could make retirement a real possibility.
There have been talks over a move to Saudi Arabia, with a possible reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo on the cards.
Ronaldo is already playing a part in Al Nassr’s transfer business as the Portuguese star looks to bring Teun Koopmeiners to Saudi Arabia after the Dutchman’s poor spell with Juventus.
However, any move may depend on the 2026 World Cup as Pogba’s initial objective was to earn a spot in the French national team this summer.
Failing to reach this goal could be a major setback for the 32-year-old and Pogba may bring his career to an early end.
