Lazio are planning a January transfer offensive for Vasco Da Gama striker Rayan amid links with AC Milan.

The 19-year-old Brazilian wonderkid has been on Serie A radars for months after reported scouting interest from Milan.

Lazio are now in the picture, with Italian reports saying sporting director Angelo Fabiani is ready to push talks forward.

Indeed, Fabiani is considering a trip to Brazil in order to try to convince Rayan and his camp of a switch to Lazio.

How Lazio plan to sign Rayan ahead of competition

Milan were eyeing Rayan ahead of the January transfer window, but they have since snapped up Niclas Fullkrug.

However, the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen.

There is also concrete interest from English Premier League strugglers Bournemouth.

According to Calciomercato, Lazio now feel they must get creative in order to outdo the competition.

Therefore, they are considering flying to Brazil to convince both the club and the player as soon as possible.

Reports from Lazio-focused outlets say the Biancocelesti have tried to tempt Vasco with €20m plus bonuses and a large sell-on clause.

However, Vasco are apparently holding out for a higher guaranteed fee, with €35m often mentioned as the number they want up front.

That gap is why Lazio are said to be working on the structure, using add-ons and sell-on terms to strike a deal without breaking their budget.

Why Lazio want Rayan

At 19 years of age, Rayan already has three seasons of senior football behind him.

The left-footer combines close control with pace and power, and he often carries the ball confidently in one-on-one situations.

Rayan is most commonly used on the right wing, cutting inside onto his stronger foot, but he can operate anywhere across the front line.

He offers end product too, with a calm finish in the box, plus the ability to create chances and compete in the air.

This season, Rayan has 57 Vasco appearances, with 20 goals and one assist under his belt.

He has also represented Brazil at Under-20 level, earning 11 caps and registering two goals.

Brazil legend Cafu recently said of Rayan: “I’m confident about him. He could be a good fit for any big Italian team.

“Rayan is a fantastic talent. He has a lot of quality and is quick in one-on-one situations. He knows how to play football, but he also sees the goal.

“He’s only 19 and can become a truly great player. Role? Up front. With his creativity, he can play both as a first and second striker. It depends on the coaches.”

Comparisons between Rayan and Neymar have also been made.
